Dr. Mentreddy is an internationally recognized crop scientist whose work spans agronomy, crop physiology, medicinal and specialty crops, and sustainable agricultural systems. With more than four decades of research and outreach across India, Australia and the USA, he has advanced crop improvement, climate-smart practices, and farmer-centric value chains.
Key Contributions
- Published 50+ refereed journal articles, 4 book chapters and 200+ conference abstracts.
- Developed high-curcumin turmeric varieties and promoted commercial cultivation in Alabama.
- Conducted pioneering research on cold plasma for enhancing crop productivity and improving seed and food safety.
- Served as PI/Co-PI on multiple USDA, NSF and NASA-funded projects that supported smallholder farmers.
- Supervised 10 Ph.D. and 12 MSc students; also served on thesis research advisory committees for 82 students across various disciplines and universities
